Fiona Athanassaki My former training was at City and Guilds of London Art School with the emphasis on painting, restoration and gilding. As a professional artist and restorer I have worked with paint and artist paint finishes for many years. More recently I have been a teacher of watercolour and gilding. My own work encapsulates my skills as a decorative artist and I draws on my knowledge of a variety of techniques using mixed media for my own paintings and to inspire others. I have exhibited widely within the UK and abroad. Paintings are in collections in the UK and in Greece. ''My paintings combine various approaches and are the exploration of colour and light and its interplay on surfaces.'' www.athana.co.uk |

Much of my inspiration comes from the landscape of the Mediterranean with its rich, vibrants colours and the rugged, dramatic coastline of west Cornwall. Painting or drawing outside in nature is a wonderful experience as it encourages you to be spontaneous while observing and focusing in the moment, concentrating on what you see in the landscape around you. The workshops allows participants to learn and practise new skills. '' |
