Penwith Painting Holidays

A fun and inspiring time in the far West of Cornwall. Unique, outside painting courses in the beautiful and dramatic landscape of West Penwith. The ever changing landscape will be the focus of these painting holidays and how to respond to it in a painterly way. There will be opportunities to try out different painting techniques and experiment with a variety of media.
You will be taken to some beautiful locations along the coastal path in which to discover breathtaking scenery and to capture the essence of the rugged wildness.

We will be based mostly around the areas of Botallack and Pendeen and sometimes in St Ives.
These are courses with a difference, combining walking with creativity, relaxing and painting 'plein air'. You will have the chance to visit the historic and sacred sites that are local to the area along with self guided walks.
All levels of experience are welcome. We aim to combine relaxation with learning new skills.

Your Artist Tutor

Fiona Athanassaki
Her training was at City and Guilds of London Art School with the emphasis on painting, restoration and gilding. As a professional artist and restorer she has worked with paint and artist paint finishes for many years. More recently she has been a teacher of watercolour and gilding.
Her own work encapsulates her skills as a decorative artist and she draws on her knowledge of a variety of techniques using mixed media for her own paintings and to inspire others.
She has exhibited widely within the UK and abroad. Her paintings are in collections in the UK
and in Greece.

Painting or drawing outside in nature is a wonderful experience as it makes you focus on the moment and just concentrate on what you see in the landscape around you.

My workshops allow participants to learn and practise new skills that bring an end result to take home.
